Too Little or Too Big

One of the things I love about astrology is how much we can learn about ourselves. Our natal or birth charts help us to understand what we came here with, our resources, our inheritance, our health possibilities and strengths and weaknesses, our inherent weaknesses and strengths and the clues as well as to how we can become the person we choose to become. It is an ever-evolving experience just as we are ever evolving. Every planet in our chart represents an aspect of ourselves, and their placement in our chart can show us how we relate to these parts of ourselves, and what we are here to learn and where our schoolroom will most likely take place. Will most of our learning be about the self? Will it be about the other? Will it be mostly involved with what takes place in our home, or in the outer world? Will our learning take place in groups and with groups, or in interacting with the world, or in the world of art and beauty, or through our home environment, and so on. Are we most interested in personal relationships or our career? The seeds are shown in our charts. It is like being born with blue eyes versus brown eyes, or short stature versus a long and lean stature. We inherit these traits just as we inherit our intelligence, even some of our emotional ways of interacting with us and the world, as well as some of the issues we seem to carry, like a predisposition to depression, for example. One of the planets that intrigues me is the planet called Jupiter. It is the largest planet in our solar system, and it seems to have a significant influence on us. Jupiter traditionally is the planet we might call Santa Claus and carries an intrinsic jolly or happiness factor, and an aspect of expansion. Where do we tend to expand, what do we love to do, what brings us joy…all of this can be seen in our charts by his extensive, substantial presence. What he can also show us is equally important. Where he is on our chart can also show us where we can tend to let ourselves be too small, and then, where we can let ourselves be too big. This can show up in literal ways as a tendency to indulge or overindulge. This indulgence could be with food or drink, but could also be an internal indulgence. Where do we indulge our emotions or indulge in being too critical or too nice or too forgiving, or get lost in our thoughts or computers, or where do we indulge in seeing ourselves as bigger and better at something than we might be? These are questions that are also important to ask ourselves. On the other side of the spectrum, his presence and location in our chart can show us where we might not allow ourselves to expand and be the big, wonderful person we are here to be in this world. Where do we accept too little, or where are we afraid to step out and be a bit big or expansive? Can we allow ourselves to be big in the realm of becoming learned, or in writing the book we always wanted to write, or becoming a professional dancer or director instead of just a hobby, or becoming a manager instead of just an employee? Jupiter can help show us all of these things. If we think about it; this aspect of allowing us to be all of who we are shows up in many ways in our lives. Also, our need to be too big in something shows up in many ways. If you want to learn more about how Jupiter affects you, look at the sign he is in, the house he is in and who he has conversations within your chart. We could have a whole discussion just about him, which is about you. And please keep in mind that we can grow and change. He is here to help us on our way. If you would like to learn more about your chart in general, about Jupiter in your chart, or even how he is affecting you now, please feel free to reach out for a session.
